Services at Tuen Mun Hospital partially affected by massive power outage in Yuen Long, service at Yuen Long Smart Identity Card Replacement Centre suspended

No power outage at Tuen Mun Hospital

21st June 2022 – (Hong Kong) At about 7pm today, a power transmission bridge near The Spectra at No. 8 Wang Lok Street, Yuen Long caught fire. Many residents said that there was a widespread power outage in Yuen Long and Tin Shui Wai. Affected by the incident, there were major power outages in Yuen Long, Tin Shui Wai and Tuen Mun districts. Tuen Mun Hospital was also affected.

The Hospital Authority responded that the power supply of the hospitals under the New Territories West Hospital Cluster was unstable. At present, the Accident and Emergency Departments of Tuen Mun Hospital, Pok Oi Hospital and Tin Shui Wai Hospital are still operating. However, some emergency patients may need to be transferred to other hospitals. Non-emergency services and general outpatient clinic services were also affected.

Meanwhile, the Immigration Department announced tonight (21st) that due to the power failure of the power company, which affected the power supply of the Yuen Long Smart Identity Card Replacement Centre under the Immigration Department, the service of the replacement centre was suspended. Citizens who have made an appointment can go to the replacement centre for the replacement procedure at a later date without having to make a new appointment. It is understood that the replacement centre was originally scheduled to close at 10pm.
