Service for Hong Kong Peak’s tram will be suspended from 23rd April for 2-3months for Stage 1 upgrade


2nd April 2019 – (Hong Kong) A total of HK$684 million will be spent by Government to upgrade the 130 year old Hong Kong’s Peak tram this year in two stages. The first stage will commence from 23rd of April where services will be suspended for 2-3 months. New carriages will replace the existing ones, new track will be laid and the stations on both Garden Road and Victoria Peak will be completely revamped to accommodate at least 1,300 waiting passengers. Existing tram capacity will be increased from 120 pax to 210 pax.

Meanwhile, stage 2 will take around 5 months starting in 2020. The entire project will be fully completed in 2021.

During the service suspension period, there will be additional City bus services to minimise inconvenience to visitors as below:

1) Bus no X15 from Admiralty West Bus Terminus to Victoria Peak.

2) Bus no 15 from Central Pier/Exchange square to Victoria Peak.

3) Bus no 15B (Weekends and public holidays) from Wanchai Convention Centre (New Wing) to Victoria Peak.

4) Mini bus no 1 from Hong Kong Station Public Transport Interchange to Victoria Peak.
