9th April 2020 – (Hong Kong) The Airport Authority (AA) said today (9th) that the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director will voluntarily reduce their salaries by 20% for a period of 6 months starting this month. Fred Lam Tin-fuk, Chief Executive Officer of the AA, said the epidemic made the entire aviation industry face unprecedented operational difficulties. Affected by the plunge in air traffic, the AA also faced a serious shortage of revenue. The AA is taking measures to cope with cash flow related issues. Lam said: “My 6 executive directors and I took the initiative to propose a salary reduction to show that we are going through hardships with everyone in the airport industry. “
AA continued that the voluntary salary reduction does not include the chairman of the AA. Since he took office, all his earnings have been donated as scholarship for the children of the AA staff.
