Security Bureau leads disciplined services and youth groups in National Day parade

1st October 2023 – (Hong Kong) In commemoration of the 74th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China, the Security Bureau (SB) spearheaded a grand event today at the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy in Tseung Kwan O. The Parade by Disciplined Services and Youth Groups cum Carnival aimed to celebrate National Day alongside the public while enhancing their understanding of the country and the invaluable work of the disciplined services.

Taking place in the afternoon, the parade showcased a splendid display of unity and precision. Led by the Police Band, the disciplined services ceremonial guard and the youth uniformed groups marched onto the parade ground with an impressive Chinese-style foot drill. The event commenced with a flag-raising ceremony conducted by the Fire Services Department (FSD) flag party, accompanied by the National Anthem and a fly-past by Government Flying Service (GFS) helicopters. The officiating guest, Mr Tang Yat-sun, inspected the disciplined services ceremonial guard and youth uniformed groups, delivering an inspiring speech.

The subsequent program featured captivating performances, including a music show presented by the Police Band and the Police Band Cadet. Various disciplined services and auxiliary services showcased their equipment in an appliance parade, followed by a joint work and rescue departmental drill, offering the audience a truly memorable experience.

The SB, along with the disciplined services and auxiliary services, also erected captivating exhibition and game booths at the carnival. These booths served as platforms to showcase their work in national security, highlight the close ties between these services and the Mainland, and provide insights into different facets of their operations. Furthermore, members of the public were given the opportunity to vote for the most outstanding booth. The carnival also featured impressive demonstrations, including those by the disciplined services’ working dogs and the FSD’s rescue team, which showcased various scenarios such as firefighting and rescue, ambulance training, swift water rescue, high-angle rescue training, compartment fire behaviour training, hazardous material incident training, and traffic accident rescue.

Participating in the parade were esteemed disciplined services such as the Correctional Services Department, the Customs and Excise Department, the FSD, the Hong Kong Police Force, the Immigration Department, and the GFS. Additionally, youth groups representing various disciplined services, namely the Auxiliary Medical Service Cadet Corps, the Civil Aid Service Cadet Corps, the Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps, and the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association, also actively took part in the event.
