22nd September 2022 – (Hong Kong) At about 11.55am today, a concrete mixer/ heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driven by the 67-year-old man was travelling along Lai Po Road towards Kowloon. When approaching the junction of Lai Po Road and Lin Cheung Road, it reportedly lost control, overturned to the right and rammed into barriers. The HGV then fell down from the flyover to Lin Cheung Road. A school bus travelling along Lin Cheung Road southbound failed to brake in time and bumped into the rear of the HGV.
The HGV overturned and landed on its side. At least 4 people were injured in the accident. The 67-year-old driver of the HGV fell into a coma and he was sent to Caritas Medical Centre by ambulance for treatment. He was subsequently certified dead at 12.40pm. The 3 staff members and the 64-year-old driver (aged 46 to 74) of school bus sustained mild injuries. There were no students on the bus.

4 passengers on the school bus suffered minor injuries and needed to be sent to the hospital for treatment. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
