8th June 2023 – (Hong Kong) Another falling object incident occurred on Cheung Wong Road today, where a fatal falling object incident took place earlier this year. At 11.43am, a one-foot-long iron rod fell from a height between two buildings, No. 15 and No. 22, and hit the foot of a woman in her sixties. The onlookers immediately called the police. The injured woman was treated on the spot and did not require hospitalisation. The police have classified the incident as “falling object causing injury,” and so far, no one has been arrested.

No. 19 Cheung Wong Road, which is about 50 meters away from the scene, was the site of a fatal falling object incident earlier this year. On 22nd February, at 2.17pm, a two-foot-long iron rod fell from a height, penetrated the canopy of a seafood stall, and then hit the head of a 63-year-old woman who was passing by. She was pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital. A 60-year-old male construction worker surnamed Chung was arrested on suspicion of “allowing objects to fall from a building.”
