Russian President Putin open to talks with Ukraine, emphasises need for credibility, Kremlin spokesman says


16th June 2024 – (Moscow) Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to engaging in talks with Ukraine. However, Peskov emphasized the necessity of guarantees to ensure the credibility of any negotiations. The comments came in response to mounting international pressure for a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine.

According to Russian news agencies, Peskov stated on Sunday that President Putin does not reject the idea of holding discussions with Ukraine. The Kremlin acknowledges the importance of dialogue to address the complex issues at hand. Nevertheless, Peskov emphasized that any negotiations must be conducted in a credible and trustworthy manner.
