18th May 2024 – (Moscow) In response to Ukrainian attacks on its regions, the Russian Foreign Ministry declared on Friday that Russia would retaliate against such encroachments on its territory. The ministry’s spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, stated that Western involvement was clearly evident behind the “attacks” orchestrated by Kyiv.

Zakharova emphasized that the West not only provides Kyiv with longer-range missiles and heavy weaponry but also authorizes their use against Russia, thereby contributing to the escalation of the conflict. This assertion suggests a deeper level of involvement from Western powers in the ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency on the same day, remarked that his country is no longer facing a shortage of artillery shells.

Zelensky stated, “For the first time during the war, none of the brigades complained that there were no artillery shells.” This statement implies that Ukraine has successfully addressed the previously reported shortage and now possesses an adequate supply of artillery shells.

The remarks from both the Russian Foreign Ministry and President Zelensky highlight the continued tensions between Russia and Ukraine. The exchange of accusations and counter-accusations underscores the complex geopolitical dynamics in the region, with each side asserting its position and attributing blame to the other.
