Royal Caribbean announces Hong Kong as homeport for “Ovation of the Seas” cruise ship starting April next year

Ovation of the Seas

25th April 2024 – (Hong Kong) Royal Caribbean revealed that starting from December this year, their state-of-the-art Quantum-class cruise ship, “Spectrum of the Seas,” will make Hong Kong its homeport. Building on this success, the company further disclosed their plans to introduce another large-scale cruise ship, the “Ovation of the Seas,” as a homeport vessel in Hong Kong from April next year. This strategic move will enable Royal Caribbean to operate two major cruise ships simultaneously, offering voyages from Hong Kong to popular destinations such as Danang in Vietnam, Okinawa, and Kyushu in Japan.

Acknowledging the surging demand for cruise travel among Hong Kong passengers, Royal Caribbean has implemented a “dual cruise ship strategy” to meet the needs of the local community. The enthusiastic response received for the Spectrum of the Seas homeport route this year has demonstrated the growing interest in cruise vacations. With this expansion, Royal Caribbean aims to ignite a new wave of cruise holiday trends and further solidify Hong Kong’s position as a prominent cruise hub in Asia.
