27th September 2023 – (Hong Kong) Rosaryhill School, comprising Rosaryhill Kindergarten and Primary School, will merge with Dalton School Hong Kong. Rosaryhill Secondary School, a government-aided school, will cease operations at the end of the 2025-2026 academic year. The transition arrangements for current students have garnered attention and raised concerns among parents and the community.
Dominican Missions, the governing body of Rosaryhill School, confirmed the merger and addressed inquiries from various sources. According to the school, a Catholic secondary school in the Hong Kong Island area has agreed to admit Rosaryhill students from all levels starting from the 2024-2025 academic year. This arrangement ensures a smooth transfer for all teachers and students to the new school. However, the specific name of the accommodating school has not been disclosed.
Sources have revealed that the receiving school is Yu Chun Keung Memorial College No.2, located in the Southern District of Hong Kong Island. This Catholic institution has been selected as the preferred option during the recent Secondary School Transition Committee meeting held last Friday.
With the impending closure of Rosaryhill Secondary School, current junior high school students will be unable to continue their studies into the fourth year. Instead, the secondary section will be taken over by Dalton School Hong Kong, a private school renowned for its educational excellence.
In response to the mounting concerns, Dominican Missions reiterated their decision to cease operations and emphasised the collaboration with the chosen Catholic school. The partnership aims to ensure a seamless educational journey for all Rosaryhill students, who will be absorbed into the new school starting from the next academic year.
