16th September 2023 – (Hong Kong) Rosaryhill School and Kindergarten, a well-established institution with a 64-year history, will undergo a phased merger with another private school, Dalton School, starting from the next academic year. As part of this merger, Rosaryhill Secondary School, one of the branches under Rosaryhill, will cease operations after the 2025/2026 academic year, requiring its junior high school students to transfer to other schools. The school administration held a parent meeting today to address this development.

Some parents of secondary school students expressed their concerns about the upcoming transfer, especially those with daughters currently in the second year of junior high school. The sudden news of the school’s closure came as a shock to many high school students who have always regarded Rosaryhill as their “second home.” They expressed feelings of sadness and anger, finding it difficult to comprehend the decision made by the school authorities.

During the parent meeting held today, Rosaryhill School and Kindergarten provided updates to parents and students in different stages of education. A teacher in the primary school department, revealed that they only received news of the merger with Dalton School yesterday. The school administration assured the teachers that they would still have roles within Rosaryhill, but they were unable to provide clear answers regarding the integration of students and teachers from both schools.

As for the secondary school department, it will cease operations after the 2025/2026 academic year, requiring current junior high school students to transfer to other schools. However, high school students will be allowed to complete their courses until graduation.
