Roden Tong Man-lung elected as President of Law Society of Hong Kong

11th June 2024 – (Hong Kong) Roden Tong Man-lung has been chosen as the new president of the Law Society of Hong Kong, taking over from Chan Chak-ming on Tuesday. Tong, who previously served as the Society’s vice president since 2021, stepped into the role during the same year Chan began his tenure as the head of the organisation. Chan made the decision to step down from the presidency after completing his third one-year term.

Having worked in private practice before joining a multinational insurance company as a corporate lawyer, Tong has been a member of the Society’s council since 2016 and was elevated to the position of vice president in 2021.

Tong emphasises that the Law Society will maintain its political neutrality, as well as its independence and autonomy. He expresses full confidence in the members of the Court, highlighting their commitment to upholding the rule of law.
