13th August 2019 – (Hong Kong) At 11.17pm today, riot police stormed into Departure Hall and pepper sprayed protesters. A security officer on duty was affected as a result. At least a protester was restrained and arrested. An officer aimed a hand gun at protesters while surrounding them. Riot police also warned reporters to give away while they were conducting clearance.
At 11.19pm, another protester was arrested outside Gate 3 of Departure Hall at Terminal 1 by 30 riot police. At least 40 riot police armed with pump guns and shields were in stand off with protesters at Departure Hall. At around 11.29pm, 10 riot police charged towards Gate 4 while 10 were at Gate 3.
A protester removed a baton from a police officer and attacked him before he drew his gun and pointed at them.
Meanwhile, protesters conducted an online poll in their Telegram chat group to determine if they were to retreat fully. 50% of 4,202 protesters voted and 80% agreed to retreat completely. Some headed towards Airport Express to take trains to escape arrest while many still remained at the airport. A lot of the frontline radical protesters appeared to have lost control and a few mobbed a man disguised as a reporter for possessing a ‘I LOVE HK POLICE T-SHIRT’.
At 11.47pm, passengers who just arrived were isolated at the baggage claim area. They were prevented from entering the Arrival Hall while police commenced clearance.
