Riot police commence clearance at Sham Shui Po and Tin Shui Wai Police Station, protesters gather to burn joss papers, wave American flag and flash laser pointers


15th August 2019 – (Hong Kong) Around 100 people gathered near Sham Shui Po Police station to burn joss papers for the 6 protesters who committed suicide yesterday evening. Hell bank notes that contained faces of top government officials were also burned. American flag was being flown again by protester in front of Sham Shui Po Police station. Meanwhile, several others flashed laser pointers at the police station from an overhead pedestrian footbridge nearby prompting riot police to fire tear gas rounds to disperse the crowd.

Meanwhile, another 200 protesters also gathered outside Tin Shui Wai Police Station during the same time to burn joss papers and some even hurled Hell bank notes at the back of the police station. A few hurled bricks at the station while riot police started to arrest 6 men and 2 women. One of them was arrested at Tin Shing Court, an apartment located near the police station. The local district councillor and a social worker arrived at Tin Shui Wai Police station to assist the protesters who were arrested. At around 1.30am, a woman suffered from breathing difficulties before some bystander sought help from police and sent her to hospital for further treatment.
