6th June 2023 – (Hong Kong) During an investigation into the conduct of law enforcement personnel, the enforcement department of the Southern District of the New Territories discovered that a retired 56-year-old police officer had allegedly used false documents in August 2019 to defraud overtime pay and discipline forces overtime pay, totalling around HK$4.6 million.
After an in-depth investigation and consultation with legal experts, the retired police officer was arrested in Tin Shui Wai on 31st May of this year. He has been charged with one count of “misconduct in public office” and seven counts of “using false documents as an agent to deceive the principal.” The case will be heard in the Shatin Magistrates’ Court tomorrow morning.
