27th January 2021 – (Hong Kong) Among them, Block C of Tung Fat Building in North Point has recently recorded 8 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 5 preliminary cases involving 8 units. Government expert consultant, Professor Yuen Kwok-yung of the Department of Microbiology of the University of Hong Kong visited the site this afternoon (27th) and said that the design of the building was not ideal. The residents involved shared a common patio. Units 6 and 7 might have had vertical transmission.
Residents at Units 6 and 7 of Block C must be evacuated, and the Civil Affairs Department will arrange all residents in the building to undergo virus testing. According to the information, the earliest case in Block C was a 94-year-old male patient who became ill on the 14th of this month and was diagnosed on the 18th. The latest case was confirmed yesterday (26th) involving a 50-year-old female patient.
