Protesters use new walkie talkie app called ZELLO to transmit critical information during street rallies


19th October 2019 – (Hong Kong) Frontline protesters have switched to a new app called ZELLO that turns your phone into a walkie talkie and works anywhere in the world as long as you are connected to the internet! The walkie talkie app supports live open group communication. The Zello app can even replace 2-way radios at work. The app doesn’t leave any trace of personal information and users have been advised not to register with their email address nor mobile phone number.

According to sources, frontline protesters will use it to convey firsthand critical information via whistleblowers. There will also be guest host during protests to report live and transmit important messages.

So far, they have created 5 different groups to cater for various districts:

Hong Kong island : 港島

New Territories East : 新界東

New Territories West : 新界西

Kowloon East : 九龍東

Kowloon West : 九龍西
