Protesters to burn hell bank notes featuring government officials in a ritual in Sham Shui Po tonight, potential clash with police expected

14th August 2019 – (Hong Kong) As the anti-extradition protests continue to take various forms, another ritual to burn joss papers, Hell bank notes featuring Chief Executive Carrie Lam, Chief Commissioner of Police Stephen Lo and also paper doll of Junius Ho in conjunction with the Hungry Ghost Festival will be held in front of Sham Shui Po Police Station today.

Participants are encouraged to bring laser pointers which are believed to be used to flash at Sham Shui Po Police Station and riot police tonight. The assembly is deemed illegal as the protesters have not applied for a letter of no objection. The slogan of the gathering is ‘ Hong Kong police practise restraint, don’t be possess by evil spirit’. A similar ritual was carried out at Tin Hau Temple in Tuen Mun yesterday.

If the turnout is huge tonight, there may be a possibility of clash between protesters and police officers again.

Location : From below West Kowloon Bridge to pedestrian walkway opposite Sham Shui Po Police Station.

Time : 8pm today.
