President Xi Jinping signs decree to promulgate the National Security Law in Hong Kong

30th June 2020 – (Beijing) The Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) ended its 20th session Tuesday and President Xi Jinping signed a presidential order to promulgate the National Security Law in Hong Kong, which will prohibit acts of secession, subversion, terrorism and collusion with foreign forces to endanger national security. There are a total of 66 articles in 6 chapters which outlined the institutions responsible for the law.

The legislation will be enacted on 1st July tomorrow.

Official news agency Xinhua expressed that Chinese lawmakers had voted to adopt the law and decided the “national security law would be included” in Hong Kong’s mini-constitution.
