Premier Li Qiang says China aims to elevate ties with Côte d’Ivoire

29th March 2023 – (Beijing) China and the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire are set to strengthen their bilateral relations with a renewed commitment to cooperation and mutual development. In a meeting with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire Patrick Achi in Boao, Chinese Premier Li Qiang expressed his willingness to take the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties as a starting point to promote bilateral relations into a new stage.

China views Côte d’Ivoire as a key partner and is committed to contributing towards building a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future. Premier Li emphasized China’s appreciation for Côte d’Ivoire’s firm adherence to the one-China principle and expressed a willingness to strengthen development planning, deepen cooperation in agriculture, infrastructure, and the digital economy. China also aims to help Côte d’Ivoire achieve food self-sufficiency and promote the industrialization process while supporting Côte d’Ivoire in anti-terrorism and stability maintenance.

In addition, China will support Côte d’Ivoire in building a strong nation of talents by providing assistance in training more urgently needed talent for development, and welcoming more youth to study in China.

Prime Minister Achi congratulated China on its victory against COVID-19 and expressed his gratitude for China’s support in the fight against the pandemic and in infrastructure development. Côte d’Ivoire is committed to the one-China principle and is actively participating in the Belt and Road cooperation. Achi expressed willingness to deepen cooperation in investment, agriculture, education, and training and to help accelerate economic and social development in China.
