Pregnant Chinese woman pushed off cliff in Thailand by husband miraculously survives and returns to thank rescuers

25th April 2024 – (Bangkok) In June 2019, a chilling incident unfolded at Pha Taem National Park in Thailand when Yuannuan Wang, a three-month pregnant tourist from Jiangsu, China, was pushed off a 34-meter cliff by her husband in a horrifying act of betrayal. The husband’s motive was allegedly to inherit a substantial financial estate. Miraculously, Wang survived the fall, but the incident resulted in severe injuries and the tragic loss of her unborn child. Doctors initially feared she might be paralysed for life.

After three years of grueling rehabilitation and multiple surgeries, Wang has made a significant recovery against all odds. On 20th April, she revisited Pha Taem National Park, not only to mark her survival but to personally thank the park staff whose quick response played a crucial role in her initial survival and subsequent recovery.

Amidst tears, Wang reunited with the rescuers, expressing her profound gratitude. The emotional meeting highlighted the resilience and strength of the human spirit. Photos of this heartfelt reunion were shared on the park’s and the Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department’s official Facebook pages, drawing attention to Wang’s courageous journey and the critical work of the park staff.

Pramuan Rattanawan, the director of Pha Taem National Park, took the opportunity to remind visitors of the park’s commitment to safety. He highlighted the advancements in life-saving equipment and regular staff training that ensure the well-being of all visitors in emergency situations.

The incident, which began with a deceitful push under the guise of a kiss, turned into a story of survival and justice. Initially, Wang, fearing for her life and that of her unborn child, misled the authorities by claiming she had fallen accidentally. However, upon confronting her husband at the hospital, the truth surfaced, leading to a secret investigation by the police. The husband’s cruel intentions were unveiled, and Wang’s story of survival began to spread, ultimately inspiring a film adaptation titled “The Missing Her.”

Wang’s return to the park was not just a thank you visit but a powerful testament to her unyielding determination. Despite the dire prognosis post-fall, where she had suffered 17 fractures and required over 100 pins in reconstructive surgeries, Wang defied the odds. Her recovery journey was arduous, akin to learning to move all over again like an infant, yet her spirit remained unbroken.

In her update on social media, Wang reflected on her three-year journey of painstaking rehabilitation and surgeries. She expressed a renewed hope in life, emphasising that miracles can indeed be recreated. Her story is not just one of survival but also of empowerment and finding hope in the darkest of times.
