24th February 2025 – (Taipei) A 29-year-old woman in Taiwan suffered serious facial burns when a magnetic powerbank, designed for use as a urinal bag, suddenly exploded while she was at her office. The incident, which occurred with the device positioned on her desk, resulted in flames erupting towards her, causing her to fall backward from the force of the explosion.
Reports indicate that the explosion inflicted burns to the left side of her face, eyelid, and neck, and also destroyed her clothing, although fortunately, her life is not in danger.
The woman expressed her shock after the incident, stating that her eyelashes and eyebrows were singed and her hair was burnt. She warned others against using the magnetic battery, saying, “It’s dangerous! This is a close call.”
The powerbank, identified as the Adam Elements GRAVITY CS5 model, had been purchased from a physical store less than six months prior, in September of the previous year.
In response to the incident, Adam Elements announced a recall of certain serial numbers of two powerbank models, GRAVITY CS5 and GRAVITY CS10. The company urged consumers to immediately discontinue use of devices with serial numbers ending in “A,” “BA,” or “BB.” Customers are advised to return these products to retail outlets or service centres for a free replacement.
The company stated that it will investigate the cause of the explosion to ensure consumer safety and protect their rights. Currently, the GRAVITY CS10 model is still available for purchase on several local shopping websites, including HKTVmall, as of 24th February.
