Police vehicle involved in collision after running red light in Shau Kei Wan, investigation underway

16th April 2024 – (Hong Kong) Apolice vehicle collided with a minivan after reportedly running a red light without activating its siren. The collision, which occurred around 9:03 AM at the intersection of Shau Kei Wan Road and Sun Sing Street, was captured by a dashboard camera and has since circulated on social media platforms.

The impact was significant enough to cause visible damage to both vehicles involved. The police car was struck on its left front by the white minivan emerging from Sun Sing Street, leading to noticeable shaking and subsequent retreat of the minivan with a dented front.

Authorities reported that the driver of the minivan sustained minor injuries to his hands and feet. Additionally, a male police officer complained of rib pain following the incident; both individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
