18th May 2019 – (Hong Kong) New Territories Traffic police set up a road block on Tsing Kwai Highway near Cheung Tsing Tunnel at 4.15am today. Police stopped a suspicious 24 year old man who was driving a BMW but he sped off instead of slowing down.
The suspect’s car reached a maximum speed of 180km/hour during pursuit by police and he drove past a barrier at a toll plaza in Ma Wan before hitting a signage of Park Island Club nearby. He then ditched his vehicle and ran into some bushes behind the club but police eventually caught up with him. He was arrested for reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of meth and drug trafficking. He did not have a third party insurance nor a valid vehicle licence during the arrest.
According to sources, the suspect is a triad member who works as a renovation contractor. He apparently borrowed the car from his friend.
During the operation, police also arrested two other drivers who failed the breathalyser test.
