Police officer found sleeping in police vehicle in Kwun Tong

8th April 2021 – (Hong Kong) A short video about 1 and a half minutes long was circulating on social media showing a police officer sleeping in the driver’s seat of a PTU police vehicle in Kwun Tong while on duty.

The vehicle was parked on Hing Yip Street, Kwun Tong at the time of the incident. It is believed that there were no other police officers in the vehicle at the time. The witness who took the video once knocked on the window of the vehicle and the officer then asked him why he knocked on the window. The other party responded: “Sir, you are sleeping while being paid with public money?” The police officer asked the other party to show his ID card. The man did not hand over his ID card, but instead asked the police officer to get off the car and “do it.” The police officer then ignored his request.

Some netizens also said that the man was biased against the police officer.

A police spokesman said that he was aware of the incident and was following up on the investigation, emphasising that the police force attaches great importance to the conduct of its officers and must handle each case strictly.
