8th April 2021 – (Hong Kong) Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, there have been a total of 11,550 confirmed cases in Hong Kong. The Civil Service Bureau stated in response to members’ questions that as of the 15th of last month, various government departments had recorded 197 confirmed cases. Among them, the police department had the largest number of people infected with the virus with a total of 27 confirmed cases, the Fire Services Department came second with 23 people infected. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department has recorded a total of 19 cases.
The authorities stated that in the past when the government implemented special work arrangements, in addition to providing emergency and essential public services and personnel involved in the fight against the epidemic, other government employees worked from home as much as possible according to actual operational needs. From 21st January this year, the government has also stipulated that if a government employee is diagnosed, all personnel who have worked on the same floor and those who have worked with the infected government employee must be tested within a specified period and must work from home until the test result was negative.
