17th April 2024 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong’s law enforcement agencies launched a raid in the Yau Ma Tei district on 17th April. The operation resulted in the arrest of two women from Mainland China, aged 35 and 40, on charges of “soliciting others to commit immoral acts” and “violating conditions of stay.”

The arrests took place in the bustling neighbourhoods of Portland Street and Pitt Street, areas often scrutinized for such illegal activities. Both suspects are currently detained pending further investigation.

During the raid, officers seized various items from two premises, including condoms, wet wipes, and tissues, which are believed to be related to the illicit activities. These findings underline the continued challenges faced by the city in tackling the hidden yet pervasive issue of illegal prostitution.
