Police bust drug warehouse in industrial building in San Po Kong, drugs worth HK$2.45m seized, couple arrested

30th May 2023 – (Hong Kong) The law enforcement department busted a drug warehouse controlled by a gang in an industrial building on Ng Fong Street, San Po Kong at around 5pm yesterday. Approximately 2.8 kilograms of suspected crystal methamphetamine and 215 grams of suspected heroin were seized. During the operation, a 50-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, who are husband and wife, were arrested inside the unit. The man worked as a construction worker, while the woman worked as a cleaner. Afterward, the police searched the couple’s residence on Yuet Wah Street in Kwun Tong and seized around 155 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine and 370 grams of suspected heroin. The total value of the seized drugs was approximately HK$2.45 million.

According to the preliminary investigation, the arrested couple was recruited by the gang to participate in drug trafficking and were responsible for storing the drugs in the rented industrial unit for distribution in the East Kowloon market. The gang members targeted drug addicts and took advantage of their reliance on the drug dealer’s group mentality to recruit them to transport drugs for thousands to tens of thousands of Hong Kong dollars. The unit involved in the case was approximately 40 square feet and was leased by one of the arrested individuals.
