Police arrest 2 suspects for assisting 2 others who set fire to a man in Ma On Shan to flee HK

15th January 2021 – (Hong Kong) A man in Ma On Shan was splashed with a flammable liquid and set on fire two years ago.

Police yesterday (14) arrested two men for being accessories to a crime. The police had earlier identified two men involved in the crime, aged 17 and 25. They fled overseas by plane and the police are now looking for the two suspects.

In addition, according to investigations, the departure air tickets of the two wanted men were purchased by the two other men arrested in residential units in Chai Wan and Yuen Long yesterday. The two suspects were a 60-year-old man and a 39-year-old man. They reportedly worked as a part-time taxi driver and a private Japanese teacher. The police are actively investigating the case and will seek legal advice from the Department of Justice after completing the investigation. The two arrested persons are not family members of the two wanted men and the two wanted men absconded overseas by plane in November and December in 2019 respectively.

The two arrested men have been released on bail pending further investigation and must report to the police in late February. In addition, the police have arrested 14 men and 4 women (aged 16 to 60) in connection with a crime at the Ma On Shan MTR station and the clashes over the footbridge.
