Personalised Vehicle Registration Mark Auction raises HK$5.6m, “KW” sold for record-breaking HK$1.08m while “UBS” sold for HK$520,000

26th March 2023 – (Hong Kong) The Transport Department held an auction for 240 Personalised Vehicle Registration Marks today (26th), with a total transaction value of HK$5.612 million. The highest-selling plate was the “KW” plate, which sold for a staggering HK$1.08 million, making it the highest-selling plate of the day and the 12th highest-selling customised plate in history.

The second highest-selling plate of the day was the “UBS” plate, which sold for HK$520,000. Other plates that sold for high prices included “YD,” which sold for HK$441,000, “NH,” which sold for HK$370,000, and “1 HW 1,” which sold for HK$115,000.

The auction for 240 Personalised Vehicle Registration Marks took place at the Wan Chai Convention and Exhibition Centre, with 192 plates sold during the auction and the remaining 48 plates distributed to applicants for a special fee of HK$5,000. Buyers must register the plates with their names within 12 months of the auction date.
