6th February 2023 – (Shenzhen) The Public Security Bureau of Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province announced today that residents with registered permanent residence status in Shenzhen do not need to make an appointment to apply for one-visit-per-week permits to go to Hong Kong. They can instead go to the self-service area of each immigration hall to apply. The Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau stated that no appointment is required. In order to avoid excessive waiting time caused by queues, it is recommended that citizens visit at staggered peak hours.

Since the border between Hong Kong, Macao and the Mainland reopened on the 8th of last month, the demand for Mainland citizens to go to Hong Kong has increased greatly. Earlier, visas for Hong Kong could only be processed manually at immigration halls after making an appointment online.
