2nd October 2023 – (Los Angeles) Paramount’s animated family film, “PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie,” has soared to the top of the North American box office, capturing audience attention and raking in an estimated 23 million U.S. dollars over the weekend, according to data firm Comscore.
The film serves as a sequel to the original “PAW Patrol” movie, released in 2021, which enjoyed tremendous success and grossed over 144 million dollars worldwide.
Directed by Cal Brunker, “PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie” boasts a star-studded cast including Kristen Bell, Taraji P. Henson, James Marsden, and Kim Kardashian, who lend their voices to the beloved characters. In this instalment, the PAW Patrol pups acquire superpowers and embark on a mission to thwart supervillains wreaking havoc in Adventure City.
Critics have shown their appreciation for the film, as it currently holds an impressive approval rating of 82 per cent on the popular review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences have also responded positively, with the market research firm CinemaScore awarding the movie a glowing “A” rating on its “A+” to “F” scale.
The success of “PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie” extends beyond North America, as the film collected an additional 23.1 million dollars from international markets, resulting in a remarkable global opening weekend estimate of 46.1 million dollars.
In second place at the box office this weekend is Lionsgate’s horror sequel, “Saw X,” which scared up a solid 18 million dollars in ticket sales.
Taking the third spot is 20th Century Studios’ science fiction film, “The Creator,” which opened with a respectable 14 million dollars.
