19th March 2019 – (Hong Kong) MTR engineering team separated the coaches of the crashed trains into smaller compartments to re-rail them back on tracks. The trains need to be towed back to Admiralty Station so that they could be sent to depot. The entire process is taking longer than expected because crane lifts couldn’t be deployed in the narrow tunnel.
MTR engineering team only had 3 hours this morning to complete the first phase, the repair works will resume early tomorrow morning.
As announced by MTR yesterday, passengers still need to use the Island Line from Central MTR station to go to Admiralty station today.
