28th June 2019 – (Hong Kong) Part of Central Harbourfront Pier will be handed over to People’s Liberation Army (PLA) by tomorrow, 29th June after Democrats failed to block the transfer.
The government proposed to hand over the pier to the PLA in April this year and it will automatically take effect on 29th June. It was alleged that the debate on the proposed resolutions by Democrats to prevent the pier from being transferred were intentionally adjourned and not heard this week to give way to the more pressing extradition bill and protest issues. As a result, the pier will be transferred on this Saturday automatically.
After tonight, this part of the pier will not be available to the Hong Kong public as PLA will take over as their military dock.
