26th May 2023 – (Hong Kong) A male paraglider was left stranded on a hillside after his paragliding equipment appeared to malfunction while he was gliding over Dragon’s Back in Shek O today at around 5pm. The man attempted to land but was unable to control his paraglider, and he flew off the hillside, landing on a slope about 200 meters below. He was stuck there with his equipment.
One of his friends who was with him at the time reported the incident to the authorities and requested rescue assistance. Emergency services quickly responded to the call and got in touch with the victim. Upon initial assessment, it was discovered that the man had suffered a minor injury to his left hand. Firefighters then climbed up the hill to rescue him.
The victim, who reportedly had some experience paragliding, was unable to explain in detail what caused the accident. The exact cause of the malfunction is yet to be determined and will be investigated further.
