Over 4,000 athletes from 12 nations to compete in Hong Kong’s International Dragon Boat Races


23rd May 2024 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong is gearing up for a major sporting spectacle with the upcoming International Dragon Boat Races scheduled for 15th – 16th June along the iconic Victoria Harbour. This year’s event is poised to be one of the most diverse and expansive in its history, with over 170 teams and 4,000 athletes from 12 countries and regions participating.

The annual festival, co-organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and the Hong Kong China Dragon Boat Association (HKCDBA), will see competitors from the Mainland, two Special Administrative Regions, and countries including Singapore, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, and Thailand.

This year’s edition is particularly noteworthy as it includes the “People’s Republic of China 75th Anniversary Celebration Trophy,” a special race commemorating the nation’s milestone. The event not only highlights competitive spirit but also celebrates cultural exchange and sportsmanship on a grand scale, attracting spectators and participants from across the globe.
