Over 3,400 vacancies to be offered at Building a Multicultural Workplace Job Fair in Wan Chai on 24th and 25th November


22nd November 2022 – (Hong Kong) The Labour Department (LD) will hold the Building a Multicultural Workplace Job Fair in collaboration with the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB) Ethnic Minorities Service Centre at Southorn Stadium in Wan Chai on 24th and 25th November. The job fair aims to enhance the employment opportunities of job seekers, including those from ethnic minorities, and promote the LD’s employment services to them.

About 40 organisations will participate in the two-day job fair and offer over 3,400 vacancies. Around 20 organisations will set up booths and conduct recruitment activities on the spot each day. A wide variety of positions will be offered including telesales representative, room attendant, surveillance assistant, laboratory technician, receptionist, shop assistant, theme park attendant, aero engine repair trainee, security guard, bus captain, storekeeper, technician, bartender, cook, waiter/waitress and packer. The Hong Kong Police Force and the Correctional Services Department will also set up counters to introduce career opportunities and entry requirements.  In addition, the DAB Ethnic Minorities Service Centre will set up a booth at the job fair to introduce its support services for people from ethnic minorities. Six training bodies will provide information on training courses to visitors. On-site interpretation services in Hindi, Urdu and Nepali will be available.

Around 69 per cent of the vacancies offered at the recruitment event are full-time jobs. Most of them offer monthly salaries ranging from $12,000 to $23,000. Over 95 per cent of the vacancies require a Secondary Six education level or below, and around 70 per cent are open to job seekers without relevant work experience.

Job seekers can submit job applications during the event and may be selected for on-the-spot interviews. They can also make enquiries on the employment services provided by the LD at its counter at the venue.

The job fair will be held from 11am to 5.30pm at 1/F, Southorn Stadium, 111 Johnston Road, Wan Chai (near Exit A3 of Wan Chai MTR Station). Admission is free, with the final admission time being 5pm each day. Appropriate infection control and crowd control measures taking into account the latest epidemic developments and the number of visitors will be implemented at the venue. All visitors are required to fulfil the Vaccine Pass requirements and scan the “LeaveHomeSafe” QR code when entering the event venue (except for exempted persons).
