Over 2,000 protesters gather near Cameron Road in TST, water cannon deployed


5th November 2019 – (Hong Kong) Around 2,000 protesters clad in black gathered at TST at around 8pm to shout anti-government and anti-police slogans. They walked along Cameron Road towards Nathan Road. Both lanes near the Kowloon Mosque were closed. Kowloon Park was also closed earlier due to the public event. Protesters then occupied the vicinity of Nathan Road, the junction of Chatham Road South and Austin Road in Tsim Sha Tsui. They built barricades with miscellaneous objects, seriously paralysing traffic. Some masked protestors even vandalised shops by smashing their glass. Rioters also vandalised Hung Hom Cafe on Cameron Road.

Police warned the protestors to stop their illegal acts. Police conducted a dispersal operation and deployed Specialised Crowd Management Vehicles. Members of the public were advised to avoid travelling to the high-risk locations in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Water Cannon vehicle was deployed near The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and riot police arrested 2 protesters.
