Over 1,700 fines issued in Sha Tin traffic crackdown


25th April 2024 – (Hong Kong) During a concentrated three-day traffic enforcement campaign from 22nd to 24th April, law enforcement officers targeted traffic violations in Sha Tin, a major district known for its bustling streets. The operation aimed at easing congestion and enhancing road safety resulted in the issuance of 1,723 fixed penalty notices and six summonses.

Violations during the sweep included riding motorised tricycles on pedestrian paths, using mobile phones or other telecommunication devices while driving, and disregarding road markings. The initiative reflects an ongoing effort by local authorities to maintain order and safety on the roads, particularly in areas prone to traffic jams and accidents.
