4th November 2019 – (Hong Kong) An alumni student from Po Leung Kuk Tang Yuk Tien College who was also a voluntary paramedic during the clashes on 2nd November was struck by a tear gas canister on his back resulting in severe third-degree burn. He is still currently being treated at hospital.
At around 7am today, over 100 students and alumni gathered outside Po Leung Kuk Tang Yuk Tien College to show solidarity with the injured alumni student. Many were wearing masks and they shouted slogans. The students also urged the school authority to protect their students and condemned police for their brutality. They demanded a response from the principal and if he failed to reply, they would go on strike indefinitely.
At around 8.40am, the school authority invited them for a dialogue session while the other alumni left. The school authority expressed that they would send a letter to the Police Chief to request for information on the incident. The Vice-chancellor of the school said that he visited the injured alumnus yesterday and pledged that he would provide financial, legal and other support if necessary. He also urged students to take precautionary measures during rallies and avoid clashes.
