6th December 2023 – (Hong Kong) A mainland Chinese woman recently shared her experience of purchasing takeaway food in Central, Hong Kong, where she claimed to have spent HK$1,600 and was charged HK$130 for a plate of around 10 Choy Sum. The incident drew attention from netizens, with the original poster expressing disbelief and stating, “Even if vegetables are expensive, they shouldn’t cost me HK$13 per stalk!”

However, when the original poster revealed the name of the restaurant in response to netizens’ inquiries, the sentiment shifted. Many netizens commented, “No wonder,” and “This price is not surprising.”

In response to the scepticism from netizens, the original poster replied with profanity-laden remarks.

The original post, shared on the Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu, detailed the original poster’s visit to a restaurant in Central, Hong Kong in late October. The post documented the purchase of six dishes, totalling HK$1,600.
