3rd February 2023 – (Hong Kong) The joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council announced on Friday (3rd) that from next Monday (6th), personnel exchanges between the Mainland, Hong Kong and Macao will be fully resumed, and the ports adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao in the Mainland should be opened as much as possible.
According to data from the travel platform Ctrip, the number of searches for Hong Kong and Macao surged by more than three times immediately after the announcement was made, the browsing of group tour products for Hong Kong and Macao increased by 180%. According to the data from the Qunar platform, within half an hour after the news was released, the instantaneous search volume for air tickets to and from Hong Kong increased by 7 times. According to internal media reports, Ctrip immediately launched nearly 100 Hong Kong and Macao group tour products, including semi-self-guided, private tours, independent travel packages, destination tours and other categories, providing users with various travel options. Statistics from Ctrip show that as of Wednesday (1st), there are nearly 270 direct flights from the Mainland to Hong Kong per week, originating from 26 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Fuzhou, Nanjing, among which Hefei, Wuxi, Nanchang , Wenzhou resumed flying to Hong Kong this month. On the Qunar platform, during the Lunar New Year period this year, the number of air ticket bookings to Hong Kong increased by 5.5 times year-on-year, ranking second among destinations.
