26th November 2022 – (Hong Kong) Before the World Cup match between Brazil and Serbia kicked off on Friday (25th), a dispute broke out between customers at Katachi Bar & Restaurant, Shop 7, G/F, Regal Riverside Hotel, 34-36 Tai Chung Kiu Road, Sha Tin.
According to sources, the incident involved off-duty police officers of the Criminal Investigation Team of the Kwai Tsing Police District. While they were entertaining at a bar on Tai Chung Kiu Road in Sha Tin, they had an argument with drinkers at another table. One of the off-duty police officers then left the bar. Suspected to be under the influence of alcohol, he returned to the bar alone and showed his warrant card. He then demanded to inspect the identity cards of all customers present.
The bar staff then called the police for help. It is reported that personnel from the uniformed patrol team arrived at the scene to deal with the incident after receiving the report. The case is now being handed over to the New Territories South Regional Crime Squad for follow-up. When responding to inquiries, the police stated that at about 2.45am today (25th), they received a report from a bar employee who suspected that an off-duty male police officer was committing nuisance to others on Tai Chung Bridge Road, Sha Tin. After a preliminary investigation, the case was handed over to the Regional Crime Unit of New Territories South for follow-up. No one has been arrested yet. The police force stated that it attaches great importance to the conduct of personnel, and any violation of the law by personnel will not be tolerated by the police force, and will be dealt with severely.
