North Korean official allegedly infected with coronavirus shot dead for escaping quarantine

14th February 2020 – (Pyongyang) A North Korean trade official has reportedly been executed after he escaped quarantine. He returned to the country recently from China before being placed in isolation for suspected coronavirus infection. He was subsequently caught going to a public bath before he was arrested and immediately shot.

A different official, who worked at the country’s National Security Agency, was demoted to working on a farm because he hid a recent trip to China.

The North Korean government has claimed that there have been no cases of coronavirus but this has not been independently verified.
