No new COVID-19 cases reported in Hong Kong, media briefing by CHP at 4.30pm cancelled


19th May 2020 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong reported zero COVID-19 cases today. It has been 5 consecutive days after the cluster involving family of 3 at Lei Muk Shue Estate was detected. Centre for Health Protection will not hold a media briefing at 4.30pm later.

Total tally maintains at 1,056.

As at noon today, in the past 24 hours, no COVID-19 confirmed patient was discharged from hospital. So far, a total of 1,025 confirmed and suspected patients have been discharged.

At present, there are 659 negative pressure rooms in public hospitals with 1,219 negative pressure beds activated. A total of 27 confirmed patients are currently hospitalised in nine hospitals, among which one patient is in critical condition (case number: 595), one patient is in serious condition (case number: 713), and the remaining 25 patients are in stable condition.

Meanwhile, Professor Sophia Chan, the secretary for Food and Health Bureau is expected to announce at 3pm later the extension of the gathering ban for another 14 days until 4th June. As for the suspension of businesses including nightclubs and karaoke etc, the suspension will be extended for one week until the 28th of this month.
