Netizen puzzled over red plastic bags hung on the outer apartment wall at Un Chau Estate in Cheung Sha Wan

29th January 2023 – (Hong Kong) A resident in Cheung Sha Wan posted an article on social media saying that he saw residents of 6 units in a building at Un Chau Estate hung red plastic bags on the outer wall below their respective windows. Many netizens pointed out that the purpose of hanging red plastic bags is to prevent pigeons from flying close to the residents’ units. According to netizens, pigeons are scared of objects in bright colours. Some residents would hang reflective Compact Discs for the same purpose.
