Netflix is one of the most popular streaming platforms in the world, with more than 137million subscribers.

To get around the monthly account cost, some thrifty users share passwords in one account.

But this could be a thing of the past.

Brit firm Synamedia has developed a software to track offenders using shared passwords.

And with a quarter of millennials admitting to sharing their username and password with pals, users could be seriously hit in the pocket.

Jean Marc Racine of Synamedia said: “Casual credentials sharing is becoming too expensive too ignore.

“Our new solution gives operators the ability to take action. Many casual users will be happy to pay an additional fee for a premium, shared service.

“It’s a great way to keep people honest while benefiting from an incremental revenue stream.”
