19th September 2023 – (Hong Kong) The National Security Department (NSD) of the Hong Kong Police Force has taken legal action today, 19th September, by charging a 46-year-old man with one count of “doing an act or acts with seditious intention.”
The case will be brought before the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts later this afternoon.
Yesterday morning, the NSD carried out an enforcement operation and apprehended the man in Hung Hom on suspicion of engaging in activities with seditious intention, which is in violation of Sections 9 and 10 of the Crimes Ordinance (Cap. 200).
The Hong Kong Police remind the public that “doing an act or acts with seditious intention” is a grave offence. Upon first conviction, offenders can face imprisonment for up to two years. It is strongly advised that members of the public comply with the law and refrain from defying it.
