Nashville Police investigate shooting that killed rapper Chris King

    24th April 2024 – (Nashville) Nashville Police are currently probing an incident that led to the death of rapper Chris King and left another man wounded. The shooting occurred on 20th April in an alleyway between Hayes and Church Streets in Nashville, Tennessee, according to official reports.

    Chris King, whose real name was Christopher Cheeks, was 32 years old at the time of his death. He was among a group of friends, including the other injured party, when they were approached by three unknown men. “The 29-year-old surviving victim told officers that the group had been socializing peacefully for a while when the trio attempted to rob them,” a statement from the Nashville Police Department disclosed. It was during this confrontation that the shooting broke out, resulting in King being fatally injured and his friend sustaining gunshot wounds.

    The 29-year-old, whose identity has not been released by the police, survived the attack and was able to provide a firsthand account of the events that unfolded. King was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

    The tragedy has resonated within the music community and beyond, with tributes pouring in for the late rapper. Pop sensation Justin Bieber, who revealed he had lived with King nearly a decade ago, expressed his sorrow on social media. “Love you bro. This one hurts. Please keep his family in your prayers,” Bieber wrote on his Instagram Story. He added a poignant farewell, “See you in paradise brother,” reflecting their close personal bond.
