12th December 2019 – (Hong Kong) At around 7.20am today, a 7-seater vehicle broke down on San Tin Highway towards Yuen Long. The 53-year-old driver stopped his vehicle on the left lane to inspect his vehicle. Moments later, a 16-tonne truck rammed into the back of the vehicle. The driver of the 7-seater vehicle was run over while the truck was hit by another tow truck from behind. The stark momentum pushed the 7-seater car for another 60 meters before it ground to a halt.
Paramedics rushed to the scene and pronounced the 53-year-old driver dead while the 50-year-old tow truck driver sustained leg injuries and he was subsequently sent to the Pok Oi Hospital for further treatment. Meanwhile, the truck driver passed the breathalyser test conducted by police. The accident has resulted in major congestion on the highway.
